This term Eagles have taken part in a science project with Cambridge United. We have conducted a range of experiments with a focus on the human body and how it is affected by diet and exercise. It was really exciting to be able to use a range of equipment that we don’t usually have in school such as heart rate monitors and parachutes.
We have enjoyed our Rainforest Aztecs topic this term and we kicked it off with a WOW starter. We started the day by examining Aztec poo to see what the Aztecs ate and then we took on different Aztec roles in preparation for an Aztec banquet in the afternoon. A highlight this term has been our PE lessons where we worked in squads to create our own gymnastics routines. During the unit we put our leadership and teamwork skills to the test as we prepared for a competition. All groups produced fantastic routines which we enjoyed showcasing at our Project presentation afternoon.
Also this term we had the opportunity to take part in a project to help with the developments of the new East Barnwell community centre. Over six sessions, we were visited by various professionals who are working on the development including architects and youth workers. At the end of the project we all put together our ideas for the perfect community centre and presented to a panel of judges. Everyone gave confident presentations to be proud of!
Finally, Eagles have particularly enjoyed having a go at project Friday this term. Each child designed their own independent project linked to our topic and worked on this for seven weeks. There was lots of chance to reflect on what had gone well and how we could develop our projects as the weeks went on and there were some fantastic results at the end of the unit. We enjoyed presenting what we had learnt to parents to round it all off.
